NIDHIVAN UNTOLD STORY

 ஃNidhivan

The legend of Nidhivan is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and is associated with the divine love story of Lord Krishna and Radha. According to the local legends and beliefs in Vrindavan, the sacred grove of Nidhivan is considered a place where the divine couple, Radha and Krishna, come to rest and perform their mystical nocturnal pastimes.

The legend suggests that every night, Lord Krishna along with Radha and other gopis (cowherd girls) visit Nidhivan to engage in the divine dance known as "Rasa Lila." This celestial dance is a symbol of the profound love and union between the divine couple. It is believed that the trees in Nidhivan witness and participate in these divine activities.

The uniqueness of Nidhivan lies in the belief that the trees in the grove are not ordinary. According to the legend, they are believed to transform into gopis during the night, becoming living beings to partake in the divine dance with Lord Krishna. As dawn approaches, these trees supposedly revert to their original form.

The legend also carries a warning that any human who witnesses these divine activities may face severe consequences. It is said that the divine occurrences in Nidhivan are so potent that mere mortals are not meant to witness them. People believe that those who see the divine dance may go blind, lose their speech, or even face death.

To protect the sanctity of Nidhivan and prevent any mortal from witnessing the divine events, the priests of the area close the gates of the grove every evening. Entry is strictly prohibited after sunset, reinforcing the idea that Nidhivan is a sacred space reserved for the divine pastimes of Radha and Krishna.

While these legends are deeply ingrained in the cultural and religious traditions of Vrindavan, it's important to recognize that they are mythological and spiritual narratives. Different people may interpret these stories in various ways, and belief in the divine occurrences at Nidhivan is a matter of faith and personal conviction.
